Montreal Musicians' Meetup

July 24-25, 2009

Second Life Summer Fling Thing AKA Montreal Musicians' Mixer

A musical gathering for the lovers of live music in SecondLife in the west end of Montreal. July 24th/25th.2009. We are planning a day long event on the 25th for the purpose of hanging out , playing some tunes, streaming short sets into SL and the possibility of an evening show to the public at large should there be enough room in the hall after the registrants have arrived. There will be a limited number of performing spots available but hopefully we will be able to accommodate everyone that wishes to perform during the course of the day. All musicians and fans are welcome to join us for the day’s activities.

Musicians attending: (so far!)

(This list will be updated as confirmations come in)

The event will be held in a comfortable hall that seats approx. 130 people with a good PA system, lighting and stage. The costs are quite reasonable for the hall rental and this in turn will keep the contribution to L$10,000 Lindens per participant. All contributions must be received by July 23rd using the registration form available at the subscribomatic kiosk. We are unable to have any transactions at the door and only those registered in advance and on the guest list will be admitted.  This is really meant to be a social event and hence any profits after expenses will be donated to a local charity. We will be having a catered BBQ which can be added as an extra to your registration fee (L$3,000) .

We are also having a mixer at a local bar /restaurant the evening of July 24th where we can get together, eat, drink, and tune our guitars.

What you need to consider as a musician that wishes to perform.

  1. Provide instrument(s) and all cables etc to be able to plug into a PA system.
  2. An amplifier if necessary and all cables….but we will try to have a bass amp on hand for general use
  3. Headphones for any streaming that we may do during the course of the afternoon
  4. Due to the nature and complexities of getting a good mix for the streaming we will not have a drum kit on stage but perhaps a snare and small percussion might be fun

What you need to consider as a participant on any level

  1. Accommodation …a list of local hotels/motels will be provided
  2. Due to bandwidth considerations we may have only one or two computers running in the hall so please consider this to be primarily a RL event
